Life should be simple and full of joy.

Let’s reclaim our time in the home and simplify nourishment and slow living for our families.

What are our families made to eat?

REAL FOOD.

The best ingredients to cook with are just that, one ingredient. Food in its freshest and most natural state will always be the most nourishing, not to mention the most delicious. Fresh food needs less work to be scrumptious.

DELICIOUS FOOD.

If you don’t enjoy the food you are eating, it’s time to change that! Food should ultimately be enjoyed, it is more than just fuel! Eating food from our kitchen should bring us joy every. single. day.

SEASONAL FOOD.

We were created to eat the food that grows near us around the year. Tomatoes in summer, squash in the fall, hearty greens in winter, strawberries in the spring. If you can buy it locally, all the better (and more nourishing)!

NOURISHING FOOD.

Our meals are like little packages that deliver nutrients to our bodies. Proteins, carbs, and fats are all necessary and should be eaten in balance. Micronutrients like vitamins and minerals should be found in our food rather than supplements!

SIMPLE FOOD.

Four course dinners and recipes with 15+ ingredients don’t happen in our home. Hungry children, tired parents, and two hands can only do so much. We stick to simple meals made with the highest quality ingredients.

SATISFYING FOOD.

When we combine these attributes of food, we find satisfaction in feeding ourselves. Gone are the days of skipping meals or dreaming of a certain food while eating the salad you really don’t want to be eating. Let’s find satisfaction!

What is slow family living?

INTENTIONAL.

Once you’ve established your family’s vision hold every decision up to the light and make sure it brings you closer. It’s so easy to get swept up in what we’re “supposed” to do, that we forget to do what we love to do.

RHYTHMIC.

We need rhythm in our lives. The seasons are a overarching rhythm to our year, but our days and weeks need the ebb and flow between active times and rest. By having both in equal portion, we enjoy them more fully.

SEASONAL.

The ebb and flow of the seasons is the framework that holds us throughout the year. Tapping into the marrow of each season roots us in the present moment and brings us peace no matter what season we are in.

NOURISHING.

What brings your family alive? What activity makes you feel the most yourselves? Add more of this to your time spent together. At the end of the day, we should be tired in a good way our hearts full and our bodies calm.

SIMPLE.

Often, we add more to our days than we need to. By clearing our schedules of the extra fluff, we leave room to discover pockets of joy. Make ordinary moments like shared meals, homemaking, slow walks, and sharing stories special.

JOYFUL.

I wonder sometimes how long families can go without laughing together. It’s all too easy to put our heads down and plow through our days without taking the time to sneak a hug. Family dance parties are optional, but highly encouraged.
