Dark Chocolate Frozen Yogurt

This dessert is my current every night craving. I don’t apologize for the fact that we eat dessert most nights of the week! We eat three incredibly nourishing, well balanced meals every day. A delightful homemade treat every day adds that little appreciated nutrient called JOY to our diets and we love it! There’s no bribery going on, just an understanding that if you would like dessert you need to eat the main course first. Dessert is the cherry on top, the little taste of sweetness to round out our meal, not the main course. It doesn’t hurt that I create our treat recipes to be full of nourishing ingredients that bring joy and goodness to body and soul.

Ingredients:

1 cup half & half (or heavy cream)

2 ½ cups full fat greek yogurt

1 cup sugar (you can use coconut sugar if you’d like!)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

⅓ cup cocoa powder

optional: 4 scoops of collagen powder (I use Perfect Supplements, you can get a discount with code JMW10)

Directions:

Mix all of the ingredients in a high speed blender. Slowly pour the mixture into your ice cream maker and let it churn for about 30 minutes. It will be nice and soft still, but gets quite hard in the freezer. I like to let it sit at room temperature for about 5-10 minutes before scooping up for dessert! Our favorite way to eat it is with blackberries and mini chocolate chips (the grown ups) and sprinkles (for the kids :). Enjoy!
