Real Deal Vanilla Frosting

Every so often, we just need a good bowl of frosting. While a naked cake is always welcome in our house, there are some occasions that require a little gilding of the lily. This is the recipe we use for just such a time.


Ingredients:

Makes enough to top one cake, double for layers

1 stick butter, soft

8 ounces cream cheese, soft

1 cup powdered sugar

1 vanilla bean scraped OR

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

pinch of salt


Directions:

You’ll need a stand mixer or hand mixer to get the light, fluffy texture. In a bowl, beat the soft butter and cream cheese together until light and fluffy. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla, and pinch of salt and beat again. When the cake is cool, spread the frosting and enjoy.
