One Bowl Wonder Brownies
I love a recipe that can go from craving to reality in less than 45 minutes. If you don’t have to dirty a bunch of dishes in the process, all the better. These brownies are just such a recipe. Is there a time that brownies aren’t appropriate for? Feeling a little niggling for something sweet after a smaller dinner? Brownies. Need a treat to bring to a gathering? Brownies. Want something portable for a picnic dessert? Brownies. Hopefully I’ve convinced you to get in the kitchen and whip these up right now and you’ll be eating a warm brownie before you know it.
Ingredients:
10 tablespoons butter, melted
1 1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup cocoa or cacao powder
2 eggs
1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Butter an 8x8 baking dish and set aside. In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter with the sugar, add the cocoa powder and eggs and whisk for 5 minutes or more if you can stand it! This gets you that crackly topped, fudgey brownie. Add the flour and vanilla and stir juuuuust until combined. Pour batter into the baking dish and cook for about 20-25 minutes. You do NOT want to overcook these! You can use a toothpick inserted into the center to check for doneness. You don’t want any gooey batter sticking to the toothpick, but a few moist crumbs is ok. Keep a close eye on them around the 20 minute mark. Let them cool for a bit before slicing unless you don’t mind a messy treat! Enjoy!
