Teriyaki Turkey Bowls
Ground meat is a mother’s best friend when it comes to getting dinner on the table in no time flat. I love browning up a pan of whatever ground meat we have, usually turkey, and drenching it with a sweet savory sauce that caramelizes as it cooks. Serve it with a bowl of bone broth rice topped with a crunchy veggie slaw and you’ve got a family winner dinner. My kids love extra coconut aminos at the table and a smattering of toppings like cashews, sesame seeds, and gomasiowhile mom and dad love this sriracha style hot sauce and kimchi on top . It’s like a savory sundae bar!
Ingredients:
Makes 8 servings.
1 teaspoon coconut oil
2 pounds ground turkey
I use Mary’s Organics 95/5)
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup coconut aminos
½ cup coconut sugar
pinch of red pepper flakes to taste
½ teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon garlic powder
juice of 2 limes
Directions:
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Melt the coconut oil and add the ground turkey. Use a wooden spoon to break it into crumbled bits while it browns. When it’s cooked through and browned sprinkle with salt, ginger powder, and garlic powder. Stir through. Pour over the coconut sugar and coconut aminos and stir through again. Cook over low heat for another 5-10 minutes until nice and caramelized. Squeeze the lime juice over top and enjoy!
